Feeding my sheep
I found a makeshift solution to save hay this winter.
The sheep waste a lot of hay! Their winter paddock in the shelter is probably 10 inches taller from loose and trampled grass hay. I’ve delayed putting up some new and improved feeder that catches what they scatter when they take a bite So I’m watching my hay supply decrease faster than I wanted.
I had a stretch of cattle fencing available now that Sebastian the ram has done his job and “moved on.” I wrapped it the fencing into a tight circle and added an additional spare piece inside the ring. It’s near the edge of the paddock so I can load it without going in.

It’s a quick fix but it gives them all space to eat and I can give them multiple bales at once. Next year I plan to go with small round bales on the advice of Ron, my friendly hay supplier.
